How do I know what my skin type is?

The skin standard categories are Dry, Oily, Combination, Normal, and Sensitive.
The best method is to try the “bare- faced” method. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. After 15 to 30 minutes, examine the size of your pores. If your pores are large, then you most likely are Oily Skin. If your pores appear small and are barely noticeable, you are mostly have dry skin. If your pores are large in some areas(T -zone) but are smaller in other areas, your are Combination skin. (If your face feels tight after an hour of washing your face, that’s an indicator you have Dry Skin.)

If you have Sensitive skin, over 50% of the products you try will have irritate your skin. Causing redness or a series of tiny bumps where the product was used.

Should I wear sunscreen or SPF daily?

Absolutely! Yes! SPF or Sunscreen definitely should be applied every morning as your final step in your skincare routine and before any sun exposure. No matter your skin tone. Everyone skin needs to be protected from the sun. For example: (UV rays, can cause cancer even when it’s cloudy or cold!) Blue light that’s emitted by digital screens such as (TV’s, computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, LED lights, electronic devices) can all lead to aging skin and hyperpigmentation (dark spots)
It’s also very important to note that if your using corrective skincare products containing AHA’s or BHA’s or Retinol, your skin could become more sensitive to sun light or sun exposure. So you want to make sure your applying SPF to prevent the reversal of adverse effects that sun could cause.

Do you have products for Sensitive skin?

Yes, we offer a select line of products for sensitive skin. However, we recommend that if you have sensitive skin, you need to start slow and introduce only one or two new products into your skincare routine to give your skin time to adjust and determine if a product is suitable for your skin. The best method is to alternate using new products every other day.

How often should you use a Mask?

We recommend using a mask such as our Enzyme Mask up to two times a week. Do it at night after you have cleanse and before using other corrective products.

Melanin Tip- If you cleanse and then get in the shower. Let the hot water work for you and not against your skin. How? Apply the desired mask onto clean skin and hit the shower. The steam will work to open your pores which will then help to penetrate the mask deeper into the skin. And just wipe off with cold compress cloth after your out the shower. Follow up with corrective serum and moisturizer at night.

Using the products and not seeing results. Could I be doing something wrong?

We recommend a full skincare regimen to produce the best results. 4 steps to a healthy skincare routine are: Cleanse, Treat(Correct), Hydrate and Protect!

Note when starting a new skincare regimen you should expect to go through a (Detox) or Purging phase. That’s basically where a new skincare product causes a pimple formation to speed up, making all those clogged pores that are lurking below the skin’s surface to slowly make their way to the surface of your skin in what would seem or look like one big breakout. This process is very temporary and typically lasts between 3 to 4 weeks with consistent use.

If breakouts increase or you feel it’s due to maybe certain ingredients. Switch back to your old regimen. (irritated, red or itchy bumps; aren’t normal!) this could be more of an allergic reaction and you should consult with a skincare specialist.

If you’re struggling with hyperpigmentation or dark marks that have been there for a while, it could take almost up to 12 weeks to notice an improvement in the appearance of uneven skin tone, dry skin or dark marks fading.
